EP Armory: Polymer Lower and Jig Review
EP Armory: Polymer Lower and Jig Review

I am going to be doing my review on the EP Armory polymer lower and jig. I think a lot of people have limited knowledge or base their knowledge on a bunch of hearsay of people who haven’t really built or shot from a polymer lower AR-15. So for all of you who don’t know about polymer lowers, here is my review so that you can hopefully come to a more informed conclusion about whether you want to buy on or not. Enjoy!

EP Armory is a company in Texas, however they came from California. The lower that I bought from them was the Gen 2 which did not have the same problems as the gen 1 in that the lowers would snap off near the thread for the stock on the lower. They have since beefed up that part of the lower to ensure no more snaps like that happen. From what I can tell, there has been no issue in that region of my build.

The milling process for the Lower was immensely easy, and EP Armory actually has videos that will guide you through the process of milling out lowers with their jigs. One thing you want to be aware of, I am not sure if they have fixed it, but be aware that the plate that has the trigger hole is off by at least 1/32 of an inch. You will need to mill on the forward end about that distance to give enough clearance for the trigger to reset after you fire.

The lower performs well as far as I can tell. You know, I think we are getting out of the trial and error phase of polymer lowers and while I wouldn’t rely on this as a long term firearm, it works, and is a testament to how far we are willing to go to preserve the second amendment.
