I am going to be doing my review on my Davidson Defense $355 AR-9 pistol build. It is probably the cheapest AR pistol you can get. It is basically a culmination of parts put together by myself, from Davidson Defense, however the lower did come from Anderson.
Essentially what it is is a AR-15 lower chambered in 9mm. It has a magwell insert for colt 9mm magazines. The only problem with it is that it takes a lot of effort to get a fully loaded magazine into the magwell, The ejector may also need a bit of tweaking to make sure it works properly.
So basically what this review is meant to do is to show that you can buy your parts quite haphazardly, as long as the parts are in spec, and machine and tweak to your preferences a completely new gun. Now I source my parts from different places, but my parts in major part came from Davidson Defense, and I do want to let you guys know that this is a pretty quality company for budget builders like myself.
I have fired it, put it through mud tests, dirt tests, and while it did seize up on the dirt test, it only took a little bit of cleaning for it to be back in action. There were no major malfunctions on the gun at all, and because it’s a 9mm you really don’t have much to worry about. For the price point, I would say definitely get to Davidson Defense for some quality AR parts.
