I was looking for a decent speedloader online. When I came to Cabellas I was very surprised to see that they had some for pistol magazines so I ended up getting the Maglula (weird name) pistol magazine loader. Here are some of my thoughts and a comparison to the HKS pistol mag loader.
The Maglula UpLula supposedly works on 9mm,. 357, 10mm, 45 ACP and 40 cal. It is a very versatile and easy to use design that works very well. I have to say, I will probably never go back loading pistol magazines by hand, simply because of how hard it can be to do sometimes, and the stress on the tip of my thumb. I am overall pleased with the function of the UpLula. It has made going out to shoot my 1911 so much more seamless. I dare say it even made me want to go out and shoot it more.
It is a very cheap and quite necessary ( in my opinion) tool that you can use to load faster and more seamlessly. I would heavily recommend it just because it works so well, and works so much better than the HKS pistol magazine loader which is more on the line of cheap plastic that breaks over time. I didn’t like the feel of it either. It just felt very toy like in the fact that it was pretty cheap plastic. Having to fight against that spring will wear it out after a while and it will eventually either bend out of place or break.
With the UpLula, I have yet to see any kind of wear and tear on it, or any signs that it might be getting worn out. So I would highly recommend the Maglula UpLula pistol magazine loader.
