The Atlas R-One MLok handguard from Aero Precision is one handguard to rule them all. However it is not cheap. And that’s why some, especially budget builders and buyers would be deterred by something like this. Sometimes putting a little money into to ensure the quality of the parts you buy is necessary, and in the case of this handguard, I am glad I did. It is one of the easiest, smoothest handguards with which to mount attachments onto. It has sling mounts at 3”, 6”, and 9” and has a picatinny mount at the top that goes the length of the handguard. I typically prefer that style over the ones that only have picatinnies on either end. You can fit a little more on there and you have more room to adjust sites.
Running it on my AR-15 build, it has proven to help me perform at the standard I like. There is no uneasiness with handling, and if I need to move quickly the edges don’t bite into my skin in a painful way. However, you can put a decent grip on it and it will stay solid in your hand. I have some magpul flip sights so I guess testing the rail in that regard would depend on the kind of attachments you get for your picatinny rail.
Its all too easy to come back cheap chinesium handguards. When it comes to reliability you can see and feel, you owe it to yourself to get the best of what you can afford. That is why I think the quality of the Atlas R One Mlok handguard is a step in the right direction.
