I was doing some looking online and came across the Armaspec stealth recoil spring. Not really knowing what I was getting myself into, save for a few glances over at some forum posts about it. I pretty much went into this not really knowing what I was buying it or even knowing if I needed it. From what I understand, Armaspec is a Cali company that puts out some really innovative stuff for the AR platform. So here is my opinion on the Armaspec recoil spring.
Now the Armaspec srs is an aftermarket buffer and buffer spring meant to give you the ability to tweak the spring force and therefore the recoil on your AR build. It is also meant to get rid of the spring “thwang” that is common on AR-15 rifles. So I guess as a definitive review would be telling you all if it achieves those goals. In my opinion, yes. There is a noticeable difference in the recoil felt on the shoulder. It makes follow up shots much easier to make accurate.
The design on the srs is very unique in that it has a dual spring system, increasing the amount of tension without providing too much of a spring force on the bcg. The srs comes in different weights and is able to be changed out easily. It can be used without the buffer detent which means that the bcg will be on a constant spring.
I walked into the Armaspec srs not really knowing what I was getting into, but I think I would be happy putting this thing on a match build simply because of how easily it is to tweak to the tolerance I want it. That makes it a high recommendation on my list, but get ready to spend a good amount of money getting it.
